Tuesday Morning Reflection - The Magic of Camp

Morning Reflection - The Magic of Camp

Good Morning Everyone! It is early morning here and the campers are all still asleep.... Sitting on the dock I've been thinking about the magic of camp.

It is really hard to capture in words the spirit and energy and enthusiasm and bonds of friendship that camp inspires.  We see children who were timid and nervous come together and as they try new things, explore new environments and meet new friends, they develop a new sense of independence, confidence, and pride in themselves. Yesterday we saw children who met just a day ago walking arm in arm, helping one another, pushing their own boundaries and growing. Older children can be seen helping the young ones, a teenage girl braiding the hair of a littler one, or an experienced fisher helping to show a novice how to cast his line - and share in his exuberance when he caught his first fish. As new friends work together to brainstorm an idea like a "cabin name", a strategy to capture the flag, or a new team mate to achieve a common goal - camp simply brings out the best in each of us.

Each of our volunteer staff here at camp believe in this magic.  We have the most incredible and dedicated  volunteer staff this year who include Bernie, Emily, Zoe, Blake, and Degen who helps lead the LIT program.  We have a superstar nursing team who are are simply the best - Christina, Wendy, Jaina, Lindsay C, Jennifer, Lindsay K, Carina, and Natalie - each of whom brings a wealth of experience, kindness, and  fun to our kids.  Our incredible camp doctors this year are Dr. Nicola Jones and Dr. Herbert Brill - we are tremendously grateful for their time, expertise, and support. Our leadership team is truly the best!!!!!!

This one week of camp entails a whole year of planning and organization.  The Camp Advisory Committee & Leadership Team helps to oversee this planning and fundraising, and consists of Christina (Medical Director), Emily (Operations) and myself (Stacey - Publicity & Fundraising), with the help of our volunteer staff. We welcome your involvement so please feel free to be in touch with any of us throughout the year if you would like to be involved with our Leadership Team.

We are truly grateful and thrilled to be entrusted with your children to help share and spread the magic of camp.

Stacey, Emily & Christina

We have an action packed day planned here so stay tuned for more pictures throughout the day! Yours in Camping,
Stacey
